Formula Zero

Formula Zero is a dutch initiative to design and build the first race car powered by a fuel-cell. During the AutoRai 2005, Formula Zero was first presented to an enthusiastic public.

Fuel-cell technology is a viable alternative to a conventional combustion engine. It runs on hydrogen and only has pure water as an emission. This clean power plant is used in the Formula Zero kart to give it unparalleled acceleration and a top speed of 130 km/h, enabling it to out-perform most conventional karts.

Innosys Engineering is working closely with the Formula Zero team to expand this exciting project into a full racing category. A zero emission racing event!

Next to battery technology, fuel-cell technology is quicky growing into a reliable and powerful energy system as well. Batteries and fuel-cells have distinct advantages. Innosys Engineering is heavily involved in both fields. The mark 2 kart incorporates the fuel-cell technology and becomes the first kart to be powered by hydrogen. This power plant will enable the kart to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in less than 6 seconds! In cooperation with TNO, Innosys Engineering designed the power train and the fuel-cell control.

Formula Zero is sponsored by large organisations like Rai Vereeniging, TNO and Shell Hydrogen. For more information: www.formulazero.nl
